Chess is a real game. It makes hold 'em strategy feel like playing Candy Land.
Football, Sweet Football
On Friday night I had been listening to part of the Sox game on the radio. As I drove home later in the evening this sports talk, radio program was on. Now as much as I love sports, I usually can't stand to listen to these shows, but I decided to give it a try. It wasn't long before I heard a few callers that made me LOL and actually want to call in myself! I heard 3 different Dallas fans call in, who were all excited about how the Cowboys had just picked up EDDIE GEORGE. Ha! They are excited about a back who takes the ball and falls forward for 2 yds every time!?! Now I want to give George credit for some great years and admit that the guy is tough as nails, but you gotta think he is past his prime and has very little upside. The only hope is that he'll be fired up enough to prove to Tennessee that he can still play, that he'll have an average season.
I'm soo glad right now that I'm a Redskin's fan and get to be excited about Clinton Portis, instead of Eddie George. I don't think that even needs an explanation. Although Dallas did also pick up Keyshawn Johnson??? Ha!!!

That is Disgusting
I went on a Duck Tour this weekend with a friend and his out of town guest. Even though I've been living in Boston for a while I've heard that this tour is still pretty fun, so I decided to give it a try. Over all, I'd say it was a good time and I definately learned a few new facts about the city. If nothing else it will make me a slightly better tour guide when entertaining guests. We also got to see the army camp that's set up to house all the soldiers here for the DNC.
On the duck tour, you are riding in a converted WWII amphibius vehicle. They drive you around Boston then take you out onto the Charles river. After entering the river our guide was pointing out how much the quality of the Charles' water had improved over the years. She then pointed out where they were building a "public beach" as part of the parks being created along with the big dig. Apparently the water has finally improved to the point where the city can recomend that it is safe for swimming.
Another interesting feature of the river at this point, is that because of the system of locks etc, it can be drained. In fact they were draining the river at the time we got there. This created a current that was soo strong our duck couldn't make it through the lock we needed to travel through (before the science museum). I guess it's pretty rare caus our driver said she had never seen it like that, and she seemed pretty nervous. We ended up just circling around for about 15 minutes waiting for the current to die down.
Now as we were circling we got a close up view of tons of trash floating down the river. I'm sure the water is actually pretty clean now and that the extra trash was mostly due to very heavy rains that morning and the strong current created by the draining. Regardless of that knowledge, I saw something that will probably keep me out of the river forever! Bobbing up and down in the Charles was a very dead, bloated, pig!! It was floating right in front of the new "public beach" area! It was disgusting and we passed by that thing at least 5 or 6 times as we were circling.
