Far between sundown's finish an' midnight's broken toll
I just got a cup of coffee and heard two women talkin' bout babies. One of them is very pregnant, and was rattling off the names that she was considering. She said she would probably narrow it down to two names before going into the delivery room and then once she saw her baby she would "KNOW" which one her child was. That's sweet and everything, but do you really know whether your kid is a Skylar or a Mackenzie the moment you see her??
Loop Quantum Gravity is an interesting alternative (to String Theory) for Quantum Gravity. The two theories are not necessarily contradictory and may be synthesized together, but in general String Theory takes a more "Standard Model of Quantum Physics" approach while LQG takes a more "Relativistic" approach. Things that are cool about LQG include: it is not background dependent, it is non perturbative, and space time is actually quantized. Meaning when something moves through space, it doesn't travel in a smooth line, but actually jumps from point to point of space, as if it were hopping along some kind of grid. The universe has a pixel size? Also, LQG is not as ambitious as String Theory in trying to be a Theory of Everything. It just wants to unite Relativity and Quantum Physics into one unified model, which would be a pretty good accomplishment.
My softball team had it's first win last night! Some of our regulars weren't there, so I moved from playing 3rd to SS. Wow.. that was fun. You get way more balls hit to you at SS. I made two plays that I thought were pretty good.. backhanding a super hard grounder and then showing some range by getting to a well struck ball up the middle. Thank God I could get force outs at 2nd on both of those caus I am a little shaky at the throwing to 1st part!

Mo' Butta
I went to the Indigo Girls concert this past Friday at the Fleet Pavillion. At this show it was just Amy and Emily (playing guitars, mandolins, banjos, harmonicas etc), and it was awesome. Those two ladies put out quite an impressive amount of sound between the two of them. I guess Mass. has a lot of Indigo Girls fans, cause the crowd was very into the show.
So when I walked up to my seats, I was surprised to see an old friend that I haven't seen in probably 2 years, sitting right next to my empty seat! What are the odds of that?
