Pimpin'

I've heard a lot about this show, but last night I saw MTV's Pimp My Ride for the first time. Wow! They pimped out this girl's VW bug as promised. I think one of my favorite touches were the "suicide doors". That just means the doors open the opposite way. I don't know why that makes them suicide? I'd like to pimp out my Honda with suicide doors, but nothing else. No flashy rims, paint job, spoilers etc; Just doors that open the wrong way. It would be pimped out...stealth style.

What if there was a show called Pimp My Blog? You could have a bunch of geeky html guys planning it all out just like on Pimp My Ride:

Geeky Leader: "What are you gonna do with the fonts?"
HTML Guy #1: "I'm goin Comic Sans"
Geeky Leader: "What about the left nav?"
HTML Guy #2: "We're gonna do a blog roll, webrings, XML syndication, and pet cat picture!"

The Hour That the Ship Comes in

I got the major hook ups last night and I still can't believe how lucky it was. I got a call from my friend Matt at around 6 saying we had free tickets to the Sox game. Here is how it went down. My friend Margaret's roommate is Deniese. Deniese's fiance works at Fidelity and his boss gave him a bunch of tickets that weren't being used, probably caus it looked like it was gonna rain. So that's pretty cool.. I got a free ticket out in the right field grand stands, but wait... there's more.

Unrelated to the free tickets we already got, Deneise works with some guy who wasn't gonna use his incredibly awesome tickets, and he gave her one. The ticket was for section 34 row 2. That's right behind the ondeck circle, 2 rows away from the field! The golden ticket (it really is a golden color)was getting passed around and amazingly in the 6th they gave it to me and my buddy Matt to use for the rest of the game. Someone had actually scoped out two empty seats in the same row as the golden seat, so we cruised down there for the rest of the game.

Supposedly the empty seats we were sitting in were Steven King's seats. At least that's what everyone around us said. Ben Affleck was in the same row as us, about 20 seats away. I coulda just about reached out and touched the players. It was awesome! I was sitting on the aisle seat and one foul ball hit the empty seat on the other side of the aisle from me. I'm glad it didn't hit me, caus it was a hard foul and probably woulda hurt! Oh yeah.. and the Sox won and I reached over the wall after the game and grabbed dirt from the field. I hope it won't be too much of a letdown when I go to watch Pedro pitch on Friday.

Thunder Only Happens When it's Raining

I have two ideas for cicada movies. The first would be a thoughtful character study that follows the lives of an eclectic group of characters through 4 or 5 seasons of cicadas. The shrill note of the cicada would highlight the triumphs and tragedies of the character's lives; moreover, the rhythm of the cicada's song, would call to mind the interconnectedness and commonalities of the human struggle from generation to generation.

The second movie would be about a brood of cicadas long forgotten by man. Washington would tremble as the 10,017 year cicadas emerge from their dormant sleep and push through to the summer skies. Ten times the size of a normal cicada, these slumbering giants would gain strength for the mating process by feeding on human brains!

It started raining during our softball game last night, but like true champs we kept right on playing. The rain alternated between barely falling and downpour for a couple innings, but by the time we finished it was coming down full out with thunder and lightning to boot. All I have to say about that is, "Wow.. it was awesome!"
