If you hurry on over to EasterBrook's blog (aka TMQ), you can scroll down and read "Earth Day in a Nutshell". Easterbrook argues that, in America, the environment is in better shape than it has been since the industrial era began. He does allude to environmental problems in developing countries, but overall paints a positive picture for the earth. Easterbrook actually wrote a book titled, A Moment on the Earth: The Coming Age of Environmental Optimism. I ordered it used for $3, so I'll let you know if it's interesting.
The thing that seems weird about the book already is the Optimism part. I do consider myself to be a nature lovin' kind of guy, but will admit that I'm not too educated on environmental issues. Whenever you do hear about environment problems it always seems to be doom and gloom, end of the world kind of talk. How about a little optimism for a change? Maybe, it'll work?
