I was eating lunch at Kendal Square today on the big steps right outside the Coop. I was eating with Harvard who noticed a pigeon fly up and land holding a stick in it's feet. Well at first we thought it was holding a stick, but then we noticed that the stick was stuck to the foot. It might not even have been a stick, but more of a barb type of thing. I prefer to think it was a sticky stick. Well the pigeon shook his foot around a bit, but alas, the stick was stuck. Harvard had the impression that with this handicap the pigeon was doomed. I noticed however, that the pigeon had flopped down in a pile of crumbs and was eating away, so I was more optimistic. Regardless of the fate of this bird it serves as a bit of a reminder to how cold and mean nature is. It seems like it would be so easy for that pigeon to call all his other pigeon buddies over, so that they could grab hold of the stick and help him tug it off. I don't think pigeons work like that though. I think if you're a pigeon with something stuck to you, then you are on your own. Other more social animals would help each other out but how bout us humans. At what point will I walk past somebody with a stick stuck to them and just leave them shaking their leg around?
I made a realization about 28 today. 28 is late 20's and there's just no way around it. You can argue that 27 is mid 20's, but if you try to put 28 in mid 20's then that just leaves 29 for late 20's. Seeing as how late 20's is plural I think it must consist of more than just 29.
What's brown and sticky?

Key Update
Remember when I lost my keys over the July 4th weekend? Well, last night the guy who's car I rode in says that he found my keys while vacuming out his car. Apparently they were hidden under the mat or in some secret hole of his old car. This makes me very happy because A) I know I'm not going crazy. I was pretty sure I had left the keys in the car, but tried to convince myself I coulda lost them on the beach. B) I get my leatherman keycain knife back!
This reminds me of my freshman year at Wheaton when my keys disappeared. It was one of those times where you have something in your hand one minute and then the next minute it's gone. I searched every corner of the room and still no keys. We never locked our dorm room, so I just didn't replace the keys. There was a door you needed your key for to get up to your dorm room, but the lock was broken so that you could open it with a penny or something. After they fixed this lock it was kind of a pain not to have keys because I would have to time coming or going so that I would have someone to open the door for me... or just wait a few minutes as it was heavily trafficed. About a whole semester later I'm sitting on our couch and drop my pen between the cushions. As I reached for my pen I found a hole in the couch. Bravely reaching into the hole I began pulling up all kinds of treasure including: my pen, tons of spare change, a GI Joe action figure, and MY KEYS. I have never been so happy to find something that was lost, as the day that I found those keys.

1 + 2 + 4 + 7 + 14 = 28
Horray 28!! A perfect number is a number that is equal to the sum of it's prime divisors. For example 6 (1+2+3=6) and 28. The next two perfect numbers are 496 and 8128. As I have just turned 28, I am expecting this to be a perfect year. I surely can't wait to be 496!
