In the summer, I like to drive with the AC pumped and the windows rolled down.
I like to listen to techno while watching nature shows on mute.

I made it through yesterday without seeing any of the 9/11 memorial specials or anything on tv. I'm glad really caus I did get to remember the incident myself without being bombarded by all the media coverage. My heart goes out to all the people who suffered a year ago, but I really found myself feeling that my life hasn't changed at all. I definately went through a range of emotions after the event, but everything soon came back to normal. I don't really feel more patriotic towards America. Anyway.. no one wants to read more about this here, but I did read an interesting article today entitled, Forbidden Thoughts About 9/11. It talks about the real thoughts and feelings people had about the event that are not the patriotic cooperative pictures displayed on tv. An interesting counterbalance to all the positive spin.

On the way into work last year I was listening to Howard Stern on the radio and just as I was pulling into my parking space and turning off the car I heard him say something about a fire in one of the World Trade Center buildings. I didn't think anything of it and started my work day as normal. After I had been working for a while I got a call from my cube neighbor (which was kind of weird) and she asked what I was doing and what was going on at the office. At this point I had no idea what was going on so she filled me in and I found out that most of the office was watching a TV in the conference room. We closed down early that day and I went home to watch what was happening on tv. I went to the Green Briar with my roomate Becky that night to hear Bush's address and I swear I've never been in a crowded bar that was soo quiet. I remember playing in a soccer game the next night and everything was still kind of weird, but playing soccer was just what everyone needed.
I came into work about the same time today. I'm listening to WERS acoustic show now instead of Howard Stern. I'm still in the corner cube where I can never hear anything that's going on. My cube neighbor who called me last year just got laid off. I moved into a new apartment in January and haven't talked to Becky in most of that time. My next Wednesday night soccer game will be in two weeks.
