My Life Is Not Boring

Yesterday I was bored, but I have decided my life is not boring (This blog may be boring though). In the past year I have gone to Montreal, San Francisco, and Colorado with friends for various vacations and trips. I play soccer at least once a week and am in a small group from church that does stuff on a weekly basis. Even my job, which can be boring on a day to day basis provides some good excitement like: Redsox games, golf tournament, paintball, and the crazy Dream Street day. Compared to lots of people my life is probably very exciting. I'm kind of in the mood to try something new though. I think I want to scuba dive!

I Have a Boring Life

Seriously.. .I feel that way a lot. When I hear stories from friends that are doing interesting things it makes the office seem so boring. For example Greg and Kristee leaving for Peace Corps in Morocco, Teri having mountain climbing adventures in Ecuador and my friend Nate getting his PhD in marine biology who writes:

the seas were really rough the first two days, and most people were sick, including myself. only wretched once though. took our first samples today. I learned how to work with some of the equipment, and I got to talk on a head phone.

That's awesome Nate! I did some reading on IIS Architecture today. Yeah... Performance and Scalability Tuning of Web Application, specifically the ASPPROCESSORTHREADMAX setting in the IIS metabase. It is kind of exciting... Microsoft posts this warning:

WARNING : Modifying the metabase incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall IIS 5.0. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from incorrectly modifying the metabase can be resolved. Modify the metabase at your own risk.

I am in desperate need of an adventure!

Thursday

Here is an actual email I just got at work:

Check these comments out for which is correct the contractor.

I know what it means, but its still funny.

Last night was probably my best poker night ever. I think I may have used up all my good luck for a year because the cards just kept on coming. I even won when I screwed up and didn't make my best hand or know what my hand actually was. It was sweet.

Desert Island Songs

You know the old question "What 5 albums would you pick if you were stuck on a desert island"? Well what if you could only pick 5 songs instead of 5 albums? Hmm....

Bob Dylan - Tangled Up In Blue
MXPX - Tomorrow's Another Day
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
A Tribe Called Quest - Can I Kick It
GNR - Welcome to the Jungle

Post your list in the comments

Things that suck

I've spent the past few days trying to get French and German product registration ready for Mathcad.com. Most of the text was sent out for translation, but a lot was missed. Some local folks translated this missing text by hand onto printed copies of the english versions. That means I had to try and copy their translation back into the files. It is immensly difficult and tedious to try and copy someone else's handwriting especially when it is in a language you know nothing about!!!

I decided to switch to my light weight jacket and stick with it until spring comes. I felt like this leap of good faith would encourage spring to hurry on up, but my good faith is being tested. Yesterday it snowed all day here in Boston. Thankfully it wasn't cold enough to stick, but it was close. Hopefully my light weight jacket wearing stamina will soon be rewarded with warm weather.

World Relief

This Sunday a man from World Relief spoke at Park Street. I am frequently blown away when I hear the statistics of poverty throughout the world and last night was no exception. Even though I know how fortunate I am it is always a sobering reminder of how great my wealth is. The message last night was "Whatever you do, don't do nothing!" and so that is the message of this entry.

Go to the World Relief website and check it out. Go to World Vision and sponsor a child. Use these sites as "the jump-off" and read up on the state of the world. Don't do nothing.
