Zen TV

This article is kind of scarry because I realize how addicted I am to tv and that my addiction is not that abnormal.

In the words of Mat Maxwell, "Television becomes the world for people.... The world becomes television." The overall and cumulative effect of the media is to heighten our insensitivity to reality. Rather than breaking the chains of ignorance, political domination and illusion in our Platonic cave, something insidiously similar yet different is going on. Instead of actually turning away from the shadows to see the realities, instead of actually leaving the darkness of the cave and going up into the sunlight, we merely watch an image of ourselves doing this, we fantasize about doing it and think it's the same.

Squirrels

I never knew white squirrels existed, but there is tons of evidence on the internet. I find these critters fascinating and on reading through the squirrel literature on the net came to this gem of a page: Amazing Squirrel Stories Not to be deemed prejudice in any way, this page contains stories about both black and white squirrels. Just read this excerpt to see what's in store.

"I have come face to face with a black squirrel with very bright blue eyes at dawn. I am considering getting a 22 and shooting this particular squirrel. A local wildlife guy thinks I'm crazy..."

I think he's crazy too!
