The Honda is home

I just got my car back which makes a nice finish to my week. It took 9 days and God knows how much money to restore my bumper to its original condition. God knows, but I don't because USAA took care of everything. They've been really good about making everything easy.

In a way the experience makes me realize how much value we place on physical perfection. My scratched up bumper didn't really affect the performance of my car in any way and yet I am kind of compelled by the machine of insurance to fix it and make it perfect. I'm philosophicaly a little bothered by this, but in reality it sure is nice to see my shiny new bumper. I guess the moral of the story is just don't rear end anybody. Maybe there's another moral, but I'm not sure.

Netscape Vodoo

I came to work the other day and had my boss ask my if I could look at an image on a new web page that had been published. The image appeared correctly in IE, but was broken in Netscape. On a hunch I right click saved the image to my desktop, opened it in Paint and saved it without making any changes. Sure enough the new image was no longer broken in Netscape. I told my boss and apparently she tried that without success. I still thought it would work, but apparently others wanted to look into "other possible problems". Later in the day another co-worker told me she had fixed the problem via my method.

I could offer some suggestions as to why I think this fixed the problem in Netscape, but I find with Netscape it is better not to ask why. In Netscape vodoo and black magic rule and sometimes it is best to trust your instincts.

Go Red Team

Tied our soccer game last night 7 - 7. It was against the #2 team last season who beat us by like 5 points the last time we played, so a tie has never been so sweet. I got one of the 7, so I feel like I contributed, but I vow never to play while being sick with a stomach full of Ed's chicken wings again!! I think I nearly died and only narrowly avoided puking!

According to HumanForSale.com I am worth exactly $2,021,020.00 Not too bad. I answered the questions very honestly and I almost made the top 50 list for males.

I skipped going out last night caus I felt kind of crappy. Instead Luke and I played Halo for 3 hours to beat "Two Betrayals" on Legendary difficulty. That was one long level!! We didn't even get stuck on anything, it was just that long. THPS3 (Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3) is scheduled to come out on March 5, and I am ready. Will I finally get my car back tomorrow? Could a scratched up bumper be fixed in less than 10 days? Only time will tell.

I have been getting sicker and sicker all week, but today is the day to move my project into production. I am such a dedicated employee. The funny thing is I know I'm going to play a late night soccer game tomorrow and go snowboarding on Sat., so I'll probably be sick for a long time. In the end I'm sure it will only make me stronger.

I went to lake Winepasaki this past weekend for Park Street's small group retreat. It was nice to go on a retreat as a participant and not a leader! We had good bonding time as a small group and I also got to meet a lot of other Park Street people. Today I am tired, sick, and a little sore from sledding down a hill of ice, but the weekend was well worth these minor inconveniences!

I am sick today. Ugh... I should be home.
