We Have The Technology

In case you haven't heard the news.. I bought a folding bike a few weeks ago! It was somewhat of an impulse purchase in the sense that i bought the bike less than 24 hours after i saw it online; however, the idea had really been cooking for sometime. I have been thinking that it would be nice to have a bike. It's true that i haven't been a regular bike rider for over 5 years, but I do think its something my subconscious longs for. Also, if i can cut my 15 minute walk to work down to a 5 minute ride, i count it a victory.

The problem was that i have nowhere to keep a bike. No storage in the apartment, so the only option would have been to leave it on the street. So naturally when I saw the folding bike, it was an epiphany experience. I could keep the bike in my apartment!

Yesterday the weather finally cooperated and i rode my bike to work for the first time. The bike has somewhat of a bmx feel with small tires, but rides a lot like a big bike. With one full wheel of gears, you can get good speed on flats and also make it up Beacon Hill. Going over the longfellow i pedaled hard to stay out in front of a "for real" biker (wearing full gear). Then I realized i wasn't into pedaling that hard and cruised in the rest of the way. If i don't lose my job, i definately see more biking to work in my future.

In other technology news, Margaret and I settled on Google as our online calendar of choice. It lets us share a common calendar and schedule joint or individual events. Isn't that cute?
