I just talked to my sister and her husband last night, and found out they are expecting their first child! Congratulations to them!! In addition to that wonderful news, they also found out their new assignment from the Air Force will be in Hawaii!!! Can you say vacation in Hawaii? DRS1 can!
March Mathness
Last year I used a weighted coin toss system to pick my tournament bracket. I looked up the percentages for how often each seed wins in each round of the tournament. I then used that percentage, and a random number generator to pick each game. The results sucked!
This year I used the time honored tradition of intuition and guessing. My results were much better! Unfortunately I can't win my work pool, but I am sitting in a respectable 3rd out of 56. I was actually surprised to be that high because I only had UCLA in the final four. I did get 6 out of 8, however, and that helped.
Now that I can't win any money, i can really enjoy rooting for George Mason. It may be a little known fact that I graduated at George Mason. That's right... my high school graduation was held on the very court where the Patriots play their basketball. I've also seen Dave Mathews and Rage Against the Machine perform on that court (different events), so I guess I have a reason to root for them. If you need a reason (other then the underdog thing) to root for the Patriots, then may I suggest reading this complimentary article on ESPN.
George Mason runs a quality program that teaches it's players real life lessons. Just check out this quote from the article, "...Coach always talks about attitude, commitment and first-class. And punching someone in the nuts is not a first-class way of doing things."
If only every program in the country could teach kids lessons like that.
