A friend sent me an email, asking to help him move. I found this excerpt to be funny, sad, and scary all at the same time:
3) Thursday we'll work more in the evening, after 5pm. We'll rent a truck for this part, as this is when we'll move big stuff. Big stuff includes a washer, dryer, and refrigerator. Again, 3rd-floor walk-up. You cannot imagine the bounty of pizza and beer that awaits those who help us with this. Unless you can imagine a very large bounty. In which case... that's about right.
I participated in the move last night and it was tough, but not the hardest move i've ever done. We actually couldn't fit a couch and armoir up the stairs, so this one guy immediately decided we should take it through the window. I think everyone was skeptical at first, but it was awesome to watch him tie the furniture up and coordinate the lifting of said furniture in a matter of minutes! Knowing how to tie fancy knots can be so practical.
