I Woke Up To The Sound Of Thunder

We upgraded our cable at the start of baseball season, from the BASIC $8/month package, so that we could watch the Sox this summer. One of the best upshots of this upgrade has been the DVR feature on our cable box. Love that DVR!!

Since you can set the DVR to record a show whenever it comes on, I've been catching up on South Park episodes. I saw the Goo Backs episode from season 5 last night and it was South Park at it's best! The episode primarily deals with the issue of illegal immigrants (from the future) who are willing to work for low wages. At one point angry union members are discussing plans for how they can stop the immigrants (by ruining the future) and keep their jobs. This little exchange made me lol.

Darryl Weathers: All right! So, any ideas how we can stop the future from happening? [pause]

Chet: How about we cause more global warming, so that in the future, the polar ice caps melt, and and it ushers in a new ice age?

Darryl Weathers: [pause] How the hell is global warming gonna cause an ice age?!

Chet: Well you know, the... global warming could bring on like a climate shift or somethin'?

Darryl Weathers: Chet, you are a f@ckin' retard, you know that?! Even if global warming were real, which all proven scientific data shows it isn't, it would take millions of years for a climate shift to happen! You think an ice age can just happen all of a sudden-like?

Chet: Well I was just tryin' to be helpful.

Darryl Weathers: Well help yourself to a f@ckin' science book, 'cause you're talkin' like a f@ckin' retard! Now, come on people, we've got to think! Damnit, they took our jaorbs!

This morning I saw an article on science blog, Atmosphere may cleanse itself better than previously thought. Apparently there may be many more "natural air cleaners called OH radicals" in the atmosphere than previously thought. If that's true Gregg Easterbrook (aka TMQ) should be saying "I told you so".
