Nickel Creek

I went to the Paradise last night to see a bluegrass band called Nickel Creek. I had heard them before, but was by no means "familiar" with their music. As we were talking to some people waiting for the show to start, I heard that the bass player for Nickel Creek would be John Paul Jones! The J.P.J of Led Zeppelin fame! I don't know exactly what the deal is, but I guess he is touring/playing with them now.

It was H, O, T... HOT in the Paradise, with the humiditiy at about 99% as the show started. Uncomfortable hot, but the temperature somehow seemed to fit with the fun bluegrass tunes, and it kinda made you feel like you were sitting on a porch down in the south, listening to the soundtrack of the land. Every once in a while I'd look up at John Paul Jones, and think... "Holy smokes, that guy was in Zeppelin". Especially when he (on mandolin) played "Going to California", and when the whole band played "Gallows Pole"! That alone was worth the price of admission.

As the show went on I guess it started pouring outside and because of some leak in the roof it was litterally raining on stage. It was funny caus it only rained on one guy. Somehow on this night, with this band, rain on the stage didn't seem that strange; it only added to the fun. If you get a chance to go see this band jump on it fast!

The District Sleeps Alone Tonight After the Bars Turn Out Their Lights

Do Do Do Do Ding Dong Do Do Ding Dong

I broke my 4 iron last weekend playing golf. It was pretty sweet. I was hitting the ball off the tee and made really solid contact. Instead of an iron sound, there was a ping like I had hit the ball with a wood. Then the club got real light on my follow through, caus the head had snapped off and flown about 30 yds down the fairway! Btw - I wiffed my second, hit the green w/ my 3rd and made the putt of the summer to save par on this very hole.

Luke's brother moved in a couple weeks ago so Jump Street is back up to full capacity. Shout outs to Menlow the newest member of team Burnham.

I'm sooo stoked for football season. In my keeper fantasy league I got some sucker to trade me Kevin Barlow for Charlie Garner and my 6th round pick! I don't think it's a big secret, but Barlow could have a very good year.
