Manhattan in the House

I went to the Fleet Center on Thursday to watch some of the practice sessions for the NCAA tournament. Watching the practice was not the most exciting thing in the world but there were definately some cool points. One, it was free. Two, I could sit in the very first row on the floor and really get a feel for how big and fast some of the players were. Three, it's cool to watch the teams that I saw practice play in the tournament caus I recognize the guys I saw practicing. I saw Manhatten, Pennsylvania and Syracuse. Tournaments been good as ever this year. That Arizona vs Gozaga game was incredible!

I Don't Wanna Work

I had a little time off last week that I spent on various activities around the Boston area. One of the new things that I tried and spent some time practicing last week was playing the drums! My roommate Luke bought an electronic drum set recently and I had fun trying to bang on it, so I bought myself a "learn to play the drums book". Now I'll admit that after less than a week of practice I'm not quite a pro yet, but I can tell that I'm getting better. I can play the most basic beats, but the really important thing is that I notice a lot more of what's going on with the drums. Since I started practicing a little, every time I listen to music all I can hear are the drums. If I never pick up drum sticks again I'd still be glad that I tried playing because it's given me a little better understanding of what's going on and appreciation for the skill of the drummers.
