I've been looking at some census data that was linked to by Toby's Political Diary. The previously mentioned census chart states that families whose earnings put them into the 4th highest 5th of income distribution hold 23% of the total aggregate income. This is by far the closest you get to any 5th of families earning a 5th of the total income. Now you can also look up what the cutoff levels for these 1/5th increments are (here), which shows that to be in the 4/5 range for 2001 meant you earned between $62,500 - $94,150 (mean =$76,646).

If i am reading these charts correctly then that means (rounding 23% down to 20%) that if you distributed all the US income evenly among families that each family would earn between $62,500 - $94,150 and on average $76,646! Post a comment if I'm missing something here, but I thought that was kind of interesting.

Super Bowl Show

Shania Twain will be performing during the halftime show of this year's Super Bowl. Now I'd be one of the first people to appreciate having Shanai on stage; I've been a fan (mostly the videos) since "Who's bed have your boots been under". Still I can't help but know that Shanai will never be able to live up U2's performance last year. That halftime show was soo good that every eye in my crowded apartment was pulled away from the Fear Factor playmate show and focosed on Bono. I really can't remember any other halftime shows.. oh wait... I remember something about Britney Spears in an Aerosmith t-shirt! Well I hope it's about the football this year and not the stupid commercials and haltime show. Go Raiders!

All Time Low?

I may have reached an all time low in tv watching last night. Fear Factor, Joe Millionare, and MTV RR/RW Battle of the sexes. If that was bad tv then I hope tv never gets good!!!!!!
