Last night was hella hot! On top of being hot the power was out in our apartment all night, so no fans! It's just stinkin' miserable trying to sleep in those conditions. Last night I was even thinking about how nice it would be to go to a hotel for the night. I've come up with two plans on how to deal with this summer heat. The first plan is to get AC for my room. The second plan, and I think I may try this tonight, is taking some kind of sleeping pill to help with sleeping during the heat. I've never taken any kind of sleeping pill before, but if it could put me out during the hot nights it would be a beautiful thing.
I think this week has been pretty rough on our neighbors. Early Sun somebody smashed into one of their car's window and stole the radio. Monday the washer they bought from the previous residents broke and they had to get a new one, and last night the power outtage thing in the heat. I saw the female neighbor on the porch last night and she just had this look on her face like she was cursing the day she moved to Burnham St. I feel sorry for them, but I aslo have to admit I find it kind of funny. I wonder what will happen today.

'Puter Stuff
I just rewrote a SQL Server 2000 stored procedure to use a table variable instead of a temporary table. I did this because A) I was curious to see if it would run any faster and B) I'm a little bored and don't have anything better to do! Drum roll please.... my new procedure runs about 4% faster! The table variable has an advantage because it is created entirely "in memory" while the temp table is actually written to disk. It doesn't make a huge difference for me as my number of rows in the temp table is relatively small. At least now I can say I've used table variables.
So this is a new look for the blog. I think I'll get rid of the ad at the top soon; I just need to decide if I want to get my own domain somewhere or stay on blogspot. I can't resist throwing in some Point Break quotes so remember, if you want to experience the ultimate you have to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love. I'm just waitin' for my set to roll in so peace out for now.

Congrats to Brazil
I watched Brazil finished off Germany and win the World Cup this Sunday morning. I thought it was a well played game with lots of great action. Both keepers made excellent saves and there were plenty of offensive chances, but in the end Ronaldo could not be denied. He definately had the magic touch during this tournament that you need to be a great scorer. Always showing up in the right place at the right time like the ball was attracted to his feet with some super soccer ball magnet. Congratulations to Brazil! They know how to play and they definately know how to celebrate.
In other soccer news team Pete's Electronics suffered a tough loss this past Wednesday. I have dedicated Pete's season to honoring the US soccer team's efforts in the World Cup, so we promise to try harder and not lose any more games. On a more positive note, team "Your Momma" managed to score a goal in the final seconds of their game on Sunday to earn a 1-1 draw.
